Privacy policy

This policy explains what The Property Decision collects when you read the site, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

What we collect

When you just read the site

Our host records standard server logs — IP address, the page requested, the time, your browser's user-agent string and the referring page. These exist for security and to keep the site running, and are retained for a short period before deletion. We do not use them to build a profile of you.

Analytics

We measure how the site is read so we know what to publish more of. Measurement only runs where you have agreed to it through the cookie banner, or where it is aggregate and does not identify you. You can withdraw agreement at any time from cookie settings.

Advertising

This site is funded by advertising. Advertising partners may set cookies or similar identifiers to limit how often you see the same advert and to measure whether an advert worked. Personalised advertising only runs where you have agreed to it. If you choose "Necessary only", advertising may still appear but is not personalised using cookies set through this site.

When you contact us

If you use the contact form we receive your name, your email address, your message and the time it was sent. We use it to reply and to keep a record of corrections. Correspondence about corrections is kept for two years; other messages are deleted when the matter is closed.

What we do not do

• We do not sell personal data. We never have.
• We do not require an account, and there is nothing to sign up for.
• We do not knowingly collect anything from children under 16.
• We do not use fingerprinting to get around your cookie choices.

Legal bases

Where the UK GDPR, EU GDPR or a comparable law applies, we rely on: your consent for analytics and advertising cookies; our legitimate interests in running a secure website for server logs; and legitimate interests in answering correspondence when you write to us.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to ask for a copy of your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to a data protection authority. To exercise any of these, write to privacy@thepropertydecision.com. We will respond within one month.

If you are in California, you may also have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know and the right to delete. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined there.

Transfers and processors

The site is served by a commercial web host and, where you have consented, uses third-party advertising and measurement services. These providers act as processors or independent controllers depending on the service, and may process data outside your country under standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. The contact form is rate-limited and protected against automated abuse. We hold no passwords and no payment data, because the site has neither.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will say so on this page and update the date above. Continuing to use the site after a change means the new version applies.
